Classic — Old Coach Road
Before the Main Trunk Line was complete, horse-drawn coaches made this journey. Today, you ride it on a mountain bike through some of the most intact native bush left in the central North Island.

Where does the shuttle drop me off?
Classic: Horopito, at the top of the Old Coach Road. Extended and Epic Day: Pōkākā Road, at the Te Hangāruru trailhead. Both ride back into Ohakune — no pickup needed.
What's the difference between the routes?
Same connected system, different starting points. Classic is the 15km Old Coach Road. Extended adds Te Hangāruru's 9km of wilder singletrack in front of it. Epic Day tacks the open Te Ara Mangawhero loop on the end for 37km+.
Is Te Ara Mangawhero a separate shuttle product?
No — it's a natural extension of the same ride, connecting back to the Old Coach Road. Nothing extra to book.
Do I need to book?
Yes — shuttles fill up, especially weekends. Booking takes about a minute and confirmation is instant.
What if I change my mind on the day?
No drama. Talk to us at the briefing — you can take a shorter or longer drop-off depending on how the group is feeling.
Can I add a bike?
Yes — bike hire is offered at checkout with live availability. MTBs from $35, e-bikes from $70.
